This wasn’t just a conversation about hair — it was about what’s happening right now. From social media trends and beauty standards to workplace expectations and public conversations about Black culture, we explored how our crowns are still being judged, celebrated, and politicized in real time.
Starting my loc journey wasn’t only a personal decision. It was also a response to the world around me. It was about choosing authenticity in a space that often rewards conformity. It was about showing up as myself — fully, boldly, and without apology.
During Black History Month, these conversations feel even more urgent. Our history is alive. It’s happening every day through our voices, our choices, and our visibility. Our hair remains a form of expression, resistance, and pride — especially in a time when representation and respect still have to be demanded.
